FLORIDA GOES TO CANNES

Tampa Bay Monthly - "The Enchanted" going to Cannes"The Enchanted is redolent with Americana. Its nationalism is of the folk myth variety, peculiar to the South and especially the wilds of Central Florida, yet universal in many of its basic elements.

It is pure Florida, a synthesis of gator-wild forests, gray-on-gray stacked summer cumulus, and baroquely sensual tropical topography.

At Cannes, it didn’t come away with any prizes, but attention was respectful and interested. This homegrown Florida film went up against some of the classiest competition and the harshest critics in the world and survived. It is a personal triumph. MIAMI INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL

Miami Herald "The Enchanted" Review"…a good, creepy story… it recreates the deep-woods mysteriousness of central and northern Florida and gets the pulse and the sounds as story elements unto themselves.

It is not just regional chauvinism that makes me applaud this film… there is talent right here… To view the entire Miami Herald Review on "The Enchanted" (in PDF Format), use this link or click on the image!

Bill Cosford - Miami Herald - Feb 1984

The Tampa Tribune "The Enchanted" Review"The strongest elements of this ambitious debut are impressive for a film made in-state, by a native Floridian, on a Florida-financed shoestring, using mostly non-actor Floridians… this homegrown, remarkably promising feature debut does this state's feature film community proud. ENCHANTED WEAVES CREATIVE TALE

Sarasota Herald "The Enchanted" Review"A moody, contemporary story… a testament to the haunting, dangerous and unspoiled beauty still abundant in Florida. The scenery is wonderful, the music excellent, the art direction extremely interesting, and the director sustains the suspense necessary to the weird revelation at the end of the story. Its 90 minutes of creative filmmaking definitely worth seeing. To view the entire Sarasota "The Enchanted" Review (in PDF Format), use this link or click on the image!

USA FILM FESTIVAL

"Well directed… the setting is glorious... the music draws you in.

Terry Hiller - Fort Worth Star Telegram - March 29, 1984

"Terrific looking, supernatural chiller builds slowly and effectively. There are a pair of fine performances from Julius Harris and Will Sennett… excellent visual details and perfect dialogue everywhere. The synthesizer soundtrack adds to the eerie quality of the film.

Friday Extra - Tampa Tribune - Sept 14, 1984

LORD'S ENCHANTING VISION

"Dynamic... breathtaking… drops the viewer deep into the thick of the Central Florida bush, severs all ties to civilization and, for 90 minutes, lets him see this supra-natural world through Booker's eyes. Straightforward, unpretentious, down-to-earth and from the heart. A film for the common man.

Amado Bobadilla - Semionole Outlook - Orlando, Florida - June 26, 1986

THE ENCHANTED IS A BEAUTIFUL BUT QUIRKY FILM

"Strange... wildly beautiful… interesting... an intriguing backwoods fantasy.

Mike McLane - Gainesville Sun - Nov 18, 1983

CAN A FLORIDA FANTASY BRING INVESTORS REAL RETURNS?

"Described as a Florida folk mystery, this one is worth seeing. Considering the high quality of the photography, the entertaining plot and the acting talents of Julius Harris and Will Sennett, The Enchanted clearly says that Florida can put out a good film product and at the same time, offer the audience something a little different.

Danielle Dubois Morris - Orlando Magazine - July 1986
